Did you hear that scratching at the window?

Scritch Scritch Scritch

It could be a branch,

but it could also be a witch.

She runs her fingers down the glass.

Scratch Scratch Scratch

She ate all her child pot pies

And wants to start a new batch.

Her breathing fogs the window

Puff Puff Puff

“A bit on the small side,” she thinks,

“But they’ll be more than enough.”

The sun begins to rise.

Hiss Hiss Hiss

She hops back on her broom.

Upset about the meal she’ll miss.

Don’t worry about the sound outside.

Scritch Scritch Scritch

It’s probably just a twig...

Or, maybe, a very hungry witch
